Network News January 10, 2008

Southern Pulse Network News:

So far in 2008, the growing Southern Pulse network has begun to operate on an email basis with members sending information to the info@southernpulse.com address. Currently, we have too little information to corroborate and share here as useful, interesting intelligence, but with more members, we hope to begin sharing news with you here and with all Southern Pulse members on the website's human intelligence database in the near future.

Items that have surfaced within the network include:

  • Questions about the increased presence and organization of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Colombia's cities beyond Buenaventura;
  • The development of a rail line connecting Manta, Ecuador and Manaus, Brazil;
  • The increased presence of Mexican narco traffickers in that country's political process;
  • The Brazilian military's increased worry over arms purchases in Venezuela, and
  • Whether or not Chavez is really going to focus on the details necessary to be a good leader such as the crime problem in Caracas and trash in Venezuelan cities.

If you have anything to add to these issues, or would like to bring up more items, please don't hesitate to contact the network via the above address. See the Southern Pulse privacy policy here, if interested.

Database development is underway but slow. We hope to open it to beta testing by the end of February.
